Katrina Bue, a theologically trained community leader and foster parent rooted in Southeast Georgia, has been selected to help expand a growing movement dedicated to uplifting local families and individuals.
As communities across the nation look for innovative ways to support families navigating changing economic landscapes, leaders in Southeast Georgia are investing heavily in proactive, dignity-centered solutions to poverty.
True Charity, a national nonprofit that equips churches, nonprofits, and community leaders with tools to foster long-term self-sufficiency, has announced the hiring of Katrina Bue as its first True Charity Ambassador for the Southeast Georgia region. This new regional effort is made possible through the generous support of the St. Marys Methodist Church Foundation, the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation, and other local philanthropists. In her new role, Bue will collaborate with local organizations, faith leaders, and community groups to implement proven, compassionate strategies that help individuals and families truly flourish.
Bue brings more than two decades of faith-based community leadership, with a strong track record of mobilizing volunteers, developing local leaders, and building programs that uplift participants. As a foster parent for more than five years, she also brings a firsthand understanding of the unique challenges local families face, deepening her commitment to building a resilient, supportive community.
Rooted in Glynn County and holding a Master's degree in Biblical Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Bue is uniquely equipped to champion a collaborative approach to community development across Southeast Georgia.
“I am thrilled to learn from the True Charity team and build on the great work already happening here,” said Bue. “Southeast Georgia has immense potential, and I look forward to partnering with local leaders to introduce sustainable strategies that restore dignity, unlock potential, and create lasting opportunities for our neighbors.”
The introduction of a regional ambassador comes at a pivotal time. Across the country, community leaders and practitioners are recognizing that long-term thriving requires moving beyond temporary relief toward holistic development. True Charity supports this shift by offering practical tools, proven program models, and a collaborative network designed to help individuals achieve lasting independence.
This momentum is already growing in Southeast Georgia. Bue will build upon a solid foundation of 25 local organizations already engaged in the True Charity Network. Her upcoming work will expand on two years of regional efforts, including donor education events, virtual trainings, and interactive community workshops designed to help local practitioners maximize their positive impact.
Cofounder and CEO of True Charity said, “We're grateful Katrina Bue is joining the team as a True Charity Ambassador with a passion to serve the hard-working leaders in SE Georgia who are committed to providing real opportunity for people to escape poverty and live purposeful, flourishing lives in one of the most beautiful and prosperous regions of the U.S.,” said James Whitford, Co-founder and CEO of True Charity.
