Twelve young women have successfully completed an eight month period of training at the Women's Leadership Institute, a product of the collaborative efforts of the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, and the YWCA of Coastal Georgia. The goal of the Institute is to provide the our communtiy with future women leaders for the nonprofit boardroom as well as enhancing skills currently being used in their jobs.

Assessing the Impact of the Social Innovation Fund

The Social Innovation Fund (SIF) is the Obama administration's major philanthropic effort, with the White House requesting $50 million for the program earlier in 2009. While it is clear that the administration is interested in innovation within the nonprofit sector, organizations are uncertain about how the program will impact their work.

Months of meetings by multiple committees working through a rigorous certification application paid off handsomely when the Communities of Coastal Georgia Foundation was notified in early August that coastal Georgia had been accepted into the state Certified Literate Community Program.
