Welcome to our new board members....

Dr. Lloyd Newberry and Alfred Sams!

With the start of the new year come two new members to our community foundation board of directors – Dr. Lloyd Newberry and Alfred Sams.

Dr. Newberry, a resident of McIntosh County, is retired dean of the College of Education at Armstrong Atlantic State University. Committed to preserving and protecting our coastal environment, he is an avid sportsman who had authored several books and hundreds of articles, and is senior editor of Sporting Classics Magazine.  He serves on the board of the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston.

Alfred Sams III, CFP,  although a native of Macon, has had a family home on Sea Island since he was a child.  Alfred is a senior vice president and private financial advisor with SunTrust Investment Services.

Our board of directors represent community leaders from all three counties committed to providing financial oversight, governance, policies and priorities, and grantmaking that enables our community foundation to work with donors and local nonprofits.
